PROJECT

pennethorne close

RenewEL were initially contacted by the client in June 2021 to provide a couple of design options to re-shape an overgrown garden in Hackney. There were existing raised planters installed eight years prior, creating two clear spaces in the garden; however, although the planters themselves were still in adequate shape, the bamboo in them had completely overgrown allowing very little other plant life to survive. RenewEL prepared a couple of sketch views showing the different materials that could be used to create a space that would be suitable for hosting, dining, relaxing and sunbathing in the summer months.

In Winter 2021 RenewEL went to work installing the agreed changes to the garden, removing the damaged timber deck and installing a new scaffold deck alongside an area of artificial grass; an additional raised bed with a timber seat and storage beneath for garden tools was also created. RenewEL prepared planting proposals for the garden and installed these, including bulbs, evergreen, perennial and climbing plants giving colour and year-round interest to the garden.

See below for further details of the before photographs of the site as well as views of the different hard materials options available to help the client decide which they would prefer in the final scheme.  We also developed detailed planting proposals and have since provided on going maintenance for the client.

“I employed RenewEL to sort out my neglected garden. They stripped out a lot of rampant bamboo, laid decking, built a beautiful bench with storage space, laid new turf, selected appropriate plants and did the planting. Rachel’s designs really took into account what I wanted for the space, and the team worked really hard in horrible weather to finish the project. They were tidy and helpful and really nice to have around. Great value, reliable, friendly and very good at what they do.”
